School Tours & Programs

SCHOOL TOURS

The National Black Doll Museum Of History & Culture  provides school tours and programs that bring the African American experience to life through exhibits, artifacts and hands on  activities designed for young learners. School tours align with most  State Standards for social studies, language arts and fine arts.

Guided docent tours are available to school groups of 10– 60 students. Self guided tours accommodates school group up to 60 and come with a museum overview and gallery activity.

Private groups

Seniors, travel club church & civic groups may request a tour of the museum’s  permanent collection or a special exhibition. All private tours are conducted by  docents of African American  culture , and last one hour. Tours must be scheduled two weeks in advance.

Corporate Tours

Corporate Members of the NBDMHC  may schedule guided group tours both during regular Museum operating hours and after-hours. Corporations that are not corporate members may only schedule tours during regular Museum operating hours. See “Guided Tours for Private Groups” above for pricing and more information

All reservations are required and must be made  (2-3) weeks  in advance. The Museum reserves the right not to allow large groups into the Museum without prior reservations.

Group visits are only scheduled on the half-hour and during the following times: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 11:30 am–4:30 pm
Friday & Sat , 1:30–4:30 pm

Sunday, Monday and early mornings:  by appointment

Create a Tour Program

Begin your day with a visit to the National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture . The museum collection includes 6200  dolls of color with 2700 dolls regularly exhibited. There are seven  permanent galleries, a replica African “Dogon “ hut , replica slave girth w’ 700+ dolls, a sports room/ music Room / Barbie & much more presented in dramatic and historical scenes.  Enhance your experience with  a African Wrapdoll workshop and  dramatic presentation of “Legend of Cecilia”.

Located in downtown Mansfield  the options for dining are endless. Mansfield has 27 eatries the selection runs the gamut. While most locals patrionize family owned businesses there are also large chain  and fast food restaraunt options available.

Mansfield also has art galleries, a black box theatre and the  Comcast Center (outdoor concert venue). In addition, for your shopping fix  we have an outdoor  mall  and are  just minutes from  the Wrentham Premium outlet complex, other museums and Gilette Stadium home of the New England Patriots.
