More Than Dolls

Today as we Welcome The National Association of Black Journalist to Boston  we have opened the doors to our resource library to take a look at some of the magazines , books  and companies. There is quite an impressive selection with some interesting articles.  In 1956  Ebony was just 35 cents. Ebony debuted  in 1945 . In 1968 Essence Communications was founded and they published the first Essence Magazine for Black Women in May of 1970.

In 2005 Essence  the leading magazine for women of Color was sold to time . Essence is no longer owned by a African American Corporation.

Summer Reflections

So, we are half way through the New England summer, it’s been slow for us at the museum. We are still transitioning from a travelling institution to one of brick & mortar. I wonder how we found ourselves setting up shop in Mansfield. I walk in faith and that is the short explanation. Now , work it out.  This month Boston will welcome the National Association of Black Journalist to the Hynes as well as the New England Conference of Delta’s. This is an opportunity for us to network and spread the word as bout our existence. We will be on Boylston street  passing out our flyers and rack cards as well as making sure that they are in the preferred hotels. We’re offering discount to attendees and their families. We have an exhibit in our entrance featuring Blacks in Journalism and our gift shop and fashion room will be dressed in the Red & white for the sorrors.

We have been diligently working on our fall schedule so make sure to check that out. We will add in  advance ticket purchases some of the guest speakers are AMAZING sure to be a big draw!!!  We are still trying to get the online store operating. We’re getting there. so this is our new blog

Tell me what you think
